This strategic shift bypasses the Persian Gulf and Pakistan\u2019s restricted airspace, reported<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindubusinessline.com\/economy\/logistics\/air-india-takes-red-sea-route-to-europe-us\/article69728142.ece\" rel=\"nofollow\"> Hindu BusinessLine<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Flights departing from western Indian cities like Mumbai (BOM) or Ahmedabad (AMD) can complete the journey to European destinations without refuelling. However, long-haul departures from northern hubs such as <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/?s=Delhi\">Delhi (DEL)<\/a> require technical fuel stops at domestic western airports before proceeding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For flights to North America, especially the US East Coast and Canada, the situation is mixed. This decision results from multiple operational constraints, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Increased military tensions in the Middle East<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ongoing night curfews in certain European and East Asian airspaces<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enhanced internal safety checks on wide-body aircraft<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Operational caution by engineering and cockpit crews<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These disruptions caused 83 international flight cancellations in just six days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the airline, the reduction aims to ensure passenger safety and fleet reliability while minimizing service disruptions. Flights to the UAE, Qatar, Oman, and Kuwait are also using alternative routes, which may extend flight durations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ongoing Monitoring and Security Coordination<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Air India has confirmed that it remains in close coordination with its external security advisors. The strategic Gulf air corridor\u2014already vital due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict\u2014is now facing additional strain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The closures have forced airlines to reroute via the Caspian Sea or through Egypt and Saudi Arabia, increasing flight durations and operational costs. The carrier has also implemented major route adjustments due to the NATO summit and ongoing instability, affecting over 20% of scheduled flights.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>British Airways (BA)<\/strong> cancelled flights to Dubai (DXB), Doha (DOH), and Bahrain (BAH) on June 22.
