HO CHI MINH-<\/strong> Vietnam Airlines (VN)<\/a> will launch its first direct flight from Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) to Copenhagen (CPH), marking a historic non-stop connection between Vietnam and Northern Europe. This new route, starting December 15, will enhance travel, trade, and cultural ties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The route will be operated by Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner<\/a>, will run three weekly round trips, catering to growing demand from tourists, families, and businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vietnam Airlines Direct Copenhagen Flight<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Vietnam Airlines’ new route between Ho Chi Minh City and Copenhagen marks a significant expansion of its international network, opening the first direct air link between Vietnam and Northern Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The outbound flights will depart Ho Chi Minh City every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, while return services from Copenhagen will be scheduled on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to \u0110\u1eb7ng Anh Tu\u1ea5n, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines, this initiative reflects the airline’s broader strategy of increasing global connectivity and supporting Vietnam’s growing economic and tourism demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also acts as a bridge for the Vietnamese diaspora in Denmark, estimated at over 70,000 people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Copenhagen (CPH), the busiest air hub in Northern Europe and a primary base for Scandinavian Airlines (SK)<\/a>, offers seamless access to nearby countries such as Sweden, Norway, and Finland, making it a strategic gateway for Vietnam Airlines passengers heading to the Nordic region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reported by Vietnam News<\/a>, this route is also expected to strengthen bilateral relations, trade, and tourism between Vietnam and Denmark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strategic Expansion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Vietnam Airlines continues to scale its international operations in response to post-pandemic demand and global travel recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The carrier has revealed plans to restore 15 international routes covering high-demand destinations such as Italy, Russia, China, the UAE, Japan, South Korea, and India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Europe, Vietnam Airlines already offers direct flights to the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From July, a new H\u00e0 N\u1ed9i (HAN) to Milan (MXP) route will operate thrice weekly, with further plans to launch HCM City to Milan services after 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline has also expanded in Southeast Asia, adding a new route from Ho Chi Minh City to Bali (DPS)<\/a>, complementing its existing Jakarta (CGK)<\/a> service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In early June, it introduced a nonstop daily service between Nha Trang (CXR) and Busan (PUS) using Airbus A321 aircraft, reinforcing its South Korea connectivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Demand and Challenges<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Vietnam Airlines is also optimizing existing routes, including HCM City\u2013Singapore (SIN)<\/a> and HCM City\u2013Bangkok (BKK)<\/a>, to meet the surging demand for regional travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline saw a 10% YoY growth in air passenger traffic in the first five months of the year, signaling the sector\u2019s recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite this positive trajectory, the carrier is navigating significant challenges. A shortage of aircraft, driven by global Pratt & Whitney engine recalls and volatile fuel prices caused by ongoing geopolitical conflicts, is testing its operational resilience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
