DUBAI— Riyadh Air (RX), the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s emerging national carrier, has signed a long-term partnership with Lufthansa Technik as part of its operational launch strategy for its Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet during the Dubai Airshow.
The agreement reflects the airline’s plan to build a highly reliable and digitally enabled technical framework as it prepares for large-scale global expansion. This marks a milestone for Riyadh Air as it begins operating its Boeing 787-9 fleet from its base in Riyadh Airport (RUH) under Vision 2030.

Riyadh Air Lufthansa Technik Partnership
Riyadh Air will rely on Lufthansa Technik’s Total Component Support program for its Dreamliners, gaining uninterrupted access to an extensive global pool of spare parts.
The collaboration is designed to strengthen the airline’s operational stability, reduce turnaround times, and ensure that critical components remain readily available throughout its rapidly growing network.
Under the 10-year agreement, Lufthansa Technik will provide round-the-clock component support for Riyadh Air’s expanding fleet.
The TCS program will allow the airline to increase component availability while lowering costs compared to sourcing and managing its own in-house inventory.
The support includes general component maintenance, repair, and overhaul services, as well as a dedicated AOG response capability that ensures fast action when an aircraft is grounded.
Riyadh Air activated the service in October when its first Boeing 787 entered operations, giving the airline immediate access to global logistics and technical resources.

Digital Tech Ops Integration
Riyadh Air has also adopted Lufthansa Technik’s AMOS Maintenance & Engineering platform to build a fully digital technical ecosystem.
The software manages engineering, planning, materials, and quality assurance processes from a unified platform and ensures compliance with regulatory standards.
By integrating with Lufthansa Technik’s broader Digital Tech Ops Ecosystem, AMOS allows data to flow across maintenance and operational systems, helping the airline optimize decision-making and long-term fleet performance.
The digital-first approach aligns with Riyadh Air’s vision to operate as one of the world’s most technologically advanced carriers.

Vision 2030 Growth Strategy
Executives from both companies said the multi-layered partnership positions Riyadh Air for a stable and scalable ramp-up phase.
They noted that securing reliable component access and digital maintenance capabilities is crucial as the airline targets a network of 100 destinations by 2030.
The collaboration supports Riyadh Air’s goal of maintaining high fleet availability as its long-haul operations expand.
With a modern fleet and a technology-driven operations model, the airline aims to compete on service reliability, efficiency, and digital readiness.

Bottom Line
The partnership between Riyadh Air and Lufthansa Technik marks a significant step in building a dependable technical and operational backbone for the new Saudi carrier.
By combining a decade of component support with a fully integrated digital maintenance suite, Riyadh Air is positioning itself for strong performance as it scales its Boeing 787 operations and pursues its Vision 2030 targets.
