DUBAI– Emirates Group-backed airline flydubai (FZ) announced a significant update to its Economy Class product, confirming that all passengers will receive complimentary meals and access to in-flight entertainment starting November 2025.
The announcement comes as the carrier continues to expand its global network and modernize its fleet. Flydubai, which operates from Dubai International Airport (DXB), said the initiative aims to provide travelers with more value and comfort on both short- and medium-haul flights.

flydubai to Offer Free Meals
According to Flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith, this decision represents a “significant evolution” in the airline’s business model.
The inclusion of meals and in-flight entertainment across all Economy Class fares underscores the company’s commitment to improving travel convenience and passenger satisfaction.
The CEO added that Flydubai’s focus remains on investing in services, technologies, and product development that create a seamless and elevated travel journey. The updated offering is expected to roll out gradually from early November 2025.
Chief Commercial Officer Hamad Obaidalla explained that the addition of these amenities will lead to a revised Economy Class fare structure.
While specific pricing changes were not disclosed, Obaidalla emphasized that passengers will continue to receive competitive fares with added value built into each ticket.
Flydubai has previously evolved from its budget origins, introducing Business Class seating, a dedicated Business Lounge at Terminal 2, and upgraded onboard products over the years.
The latest enhancement reflects the carrier’s ongoing transition toward a hybrid model combining affordability with premium features.

Upgraded Cabin Offerings
Flydubai’s in-flight entertainment system will feature over 1,000 titles, including international films, TV shows from HBO Max and BBC Kids, interactive games, and E-magazines.
Passengers will also have access to more than 700 music albums and podcasts, along with travel guides and real-time flight updates.
The airline’s new meal service will feature a diverse menu inspired by regional cuisines, including dishes from Africa, Europe, India, the Middle East, Russia, and Southeast Asia.
Light snacks and a selection of beverages will also be available, ensuring a more personalized dining experience for passengers.

Fleet and Network Expansion
Flydubai is set to receive nine new Boeing 737 aircraft by the end of 2025, expanding its fleet to 95 jets. The airline plans to add three more aircraft next year as it grows its network to over 135 destinations.
The expansion aligns with Flydubai’s long-term strategy of increasing connectivity between Dubai and underserved markets across Europe, Asia, and Africa.
As part of its ongoing retrofit program, the carrier has introduced lie-flat Business Class seats and new Economy configurations on its Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
To support its expanding operations, Flydubai is also preparing to recruit hundreds of new employees across cabin crew and ground operations.

Bottom Line
Flydubai’s decision to include meals and entertainment in every Economy Class fare reflects its broader push toward enhancing the passenger experience while retaining cost efficiency.
As competition among Middle Eastern carriers intensifies, this initiative positions Flydubai as a more value-driven and passenger-friendly airline within the region’s rapidly evolving aviation market.
