FAA investigators reported that TUI Airways (BY) Flight 601 was preparing to depart for Birmingham, England, when the crew decided to abort the takeoff after an alarm sounded in the cockpit.
This quick decision by the flight crew prevented what could have potentially developed into a more serious situation.
Following the incident, all 350 passengers and the flight crew safely exited the aircraft. Officials transported the passengers to local hotels while mechanics towed the plane for a thorough inspection. The aircraft underwent a complete mechanical assessment and received recertification for flight operations.
