NEW YORK- Chicago-based United Airlines (UA) reports a significant increase in flight demand driven by Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.
The airline’s chief commercial officer, Andrew Nocella, revealed a 25% surge in United flight bookings during Swift’s weekend concerts, as reported by Bloomberg.
Taylor Swift Eras Tour
Nocella shared this information at the Skift Global Forum, a travel industry event held in New York.
Swift’s economic impact extends beyond the music industry. In 2023, her global tour contributed an estimated $5.7 billion to the U.S. economy, encompassing not only ticket sales but also travel expenses, costumes, accommodations, food, and other related spending.
Airlines have previously leveraged Swift’s popularity to boost their business. United Airlines added flights between Kansas City and Las Vegas for the Super Bowl, using flight numbers that referenced Swift’s albums, songs, and her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce.
Southwest Airlines (WN) also increased its flight offerings to accommodate the high demand for travel to Swift’s performances in Miami and New Orleans.
Nocella emphasized the significant impact of Swift’s tour on United Airlines’ business, stating, “Our demand booms wherever [Swift] goes.”
United Airlines along with its subsidiary carriers operates around 5,000 daily flights across the globe.
