FRANKFURT- German flag carrier, Lufthansa (LH) today (June 4, 2024) inaugurated the non-stop flight LH482 from Frankfurt (FRA) to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP), USA.
Cologne-based carrier will operate 5X weekly flights between FRA and MSP with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
Lufthansa Frankfurt to Minneapolis Flight
The airline shared the pictures of the special ceremony on LinkedIn and wrote,
“Our first flight between Frankfurt and Minneapolis-Saint Paul, flight number LH482, took off from Frankfurt today.
To celebrate the occasion, we had a special visit from our Chief Human Resources Officer Astrid Neben, and Alexander Laukenmann, Head of the Aviation Division at Fraport AG, who did the honors of cutting the ribbon to mark the beginning of our new route to the Twin Cities.”
Lufthansa flight took off from Frankfurt at 1:39 PM local time and is scheduled to land in Minneapolis at 3:15 PM local time. It takes around 9 hours and 14 minutes to cover 7,069 KM between two cities.
Further, the launch event took place at Gate G13 with special treats and mementos for first-flight passengers.
Dirk Janzen, the airline’s vice president of passenger sales for the Americas stated that,
The launch of this route serves as a main bedrock of our summer expansion plan in the United States, the most important market outside of the group’s home markets, and we could not be happier to add more opportunities and capacity into and out of the U.S.”

Brian Ryks, CEO of the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) said,
Capacity to Europe from MSP is at an all-time high, with 28% more seats than a year ago and 14% more than the previous high set in 2019.”

Other Carriers Operating from MSP
This is the first new transatlantic route for Minneapolis after four years of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Recently both Aer Lingus (EI) and Delta resumed flights from Minneapolis to Dublin (DUB).
Both Lufthansa and Condor Airlines (DE) operate seasonal flights to Minneapolis. Further other airlines like Air France (AF), KLM (KL), and Icelandair (FI) operate direct flights from MSP to London, Amsterdam, Paris, and Iceland.
Minneapolis Airport operates around 474 daily flights, which is a record number in five years.
