DALLAS- Southwest Airlines (WN) is gearing up to introduce one of its shortest routes this upcoming summer.
Commencing June 4, Southwest will inaugurate a fresh route from Baltimore, Maryland (BWI) to Richmond, Virginia (RIC). Operations will consist of twice-daily flights utilizing its Boeing 737 aircraft.
Southwest Baltimore to Richmond Flights
Spanning a mere 121 miles, this route is one of the shortest in Southwest’s extensive network, possibly ranking within the top 5.
Notable routes even shorter than BWI-RIC include Denver (DEN) to Colorado Springs (COS) at 73 miles, Kona (KOA) to Maui (OGG) at 84 miles, and Honolulu (HNL) to both Maui (OGG) and Lihue (LIH) at approximately 100 miles.
While the distance between Baltimore and Richmond is greater, the scheduled block time for this route falls within the range of 45-50 minutes, approximately equivalent to the block time of the four shorter routes.
Southwest will likely primarily provide the BWI-RIC service to facilitate connections through Baltimore, as it is one of the airline’s major hubs.
Las Vegas Flights
Southwest Airlines (WN) is preparing for the Big Game weekend in Las Vegas (LAS) by adding more flights for football enthusiasts from Kansas City (MCI) and San Francisco (SFO).
Further, these flights and the carrier’s complete schedule through October 2, 2024, are available for purchase on its official website.
