Kolkata- An Alliance Air (9I) flight destined for Rourkela, transporting a full load of passengers from Bhubaneshwar, underwent an emergency landing at Kolkata airport (CCU) on Thursday evening. This action was prompted by the pilot’s report of display screen issues in the aircraft’s cockpit.
The malfunction was detected approximately at 4:45 pm on Thursday while the aircraft was airborne above Kolkata. Subsequently, the pilots requested priority landing clearance from the Kolkata Air Traffic Control (ATC).
Alliance Air Emergency Landing
After receiving clearance from the ATC, flight 9I 745 safely landed at Kolkata airport. All 67 passengers disembarked as the aircraft was directed to parking bay 27, where engineers promptly commenced repairs.
A senior official from Alliance Air stated, “A technical issue arose during the flight, which the pilots promptly identified. Given that Rourkela airport lacks an engineering base, the decision was made to divert the aircraft to Kolkata airport for repairs. The aircraft is currently undergoing maintenance.”
The official further mentioned that passengers were given the choice between a full refund or rebooking on another flight scheduled for Friday. “The majority opted for the refund and made their own arrangements,” the official added.
