DUBAI- On March 28, 2024, in Dubai, UAE, flydubai (FZ), the renowned carrier based in Dubai, unveiled its latest initiative: commencing services to two key destinations in Saudi Arabia.
This development encompasses the revival of flights to Al Jouf (AJF) and the inauguration of operations to Red Sea International (RSI).
Flydubai New Destinations
Commencing from April 18th, flights to Al Jouf Airport (AJF) and Red Sea International Airport (RSI) will operate twice weekly, departing from Terminal 2 at Dubai International (DXB).
Hamad Obaidalla, the Chief Commercial Officer at flydubai, expressed satisfaction in expanding their GCC network by introducing flights to Al Jouf and Red Sea International.
He thanks the authorities for their support and anticipates increasing flight frequencies on current routes to facilitate more convenient travel options.
With a network spanning 129 destinations across 58 countries and a fleet of 86 Boeing 737 aircraft, flydubai has been actively expanding its operations.
Sudhir Sreedharan, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations (UAE, GCC, Subcontinent, and Africa) at flydubai, highlights the significance of flydubai being the inaugural carrier to operate to Red Sea International from the UAE.
This move provides travelers with direct access to Saudi Arabia’s resort destinations along the Red Sea, aligning with flydubai’s mission to connect underserved markets through Dubai’s aviation hub.
Red Sea International Airport
Red Sea International Airport (RSI) was designed to offer a convenient gateway for travelers heading to The Red Sea. Presently, the destination boasts two luxurious resorts: Six Senses Southern Dunes and St. Regis Red Sea Resort.
The Red Sea is poised for significant expansion, with three additional resorts slated to open this year. By 2030, it is anticipated to feature a total of 50 resorts, providing over 8,000 hotel rooms and more than 1,000 residential properties spread across 22 islands and six inland sites.
The area also encompasses upscale marinas, golf courses, entertainment venues, fine dining options, and various leisure facilities.
In response to flydubai’s announcement, Michael White, Chief Commercial Officer of Red Sea International Airport, expressed enthusiasm about the arrival of international travelers, marking a significant milestone in RSI’s growth journey.
Following the successful launch of domestic flights in September last year, RSI remains dedicated to delivering outstanding services to passengers and airlines. White looks forward to expanding RSI’s network to serve The Red Sea region and global travelers.
Flight Schedule
Flights departing from Terminal 2, Dubai International (DXB) to Al Jouf Airport (AJF) will run twice weekly, specifically on Mondays and Thursdays.
For the journey from DXB to AJF, return fares for Business Class begin at AED 8,000, while Economy Class Lite fares start at AED 1,400. On the return trip from AJF to DXB, Business Class fares start from SAR 5,000, with Economy Class Lite fares beginning at SAR 1,200.
Similarly, flights from Terminal 2, Dubai International (DXB) to Red Sea International Airport (RSI) will also operate twice weekly, scheduled for Thursdays and Sundays.
For DXB to RSI routes, return Business Class fares commence at AED 9,000, while Economy Class Lite fares start at AED 3,100. On the return journey from RSI to DXB, Business Class fares begin at SAR 9,000, with Economy Class Lite fares starting at SAR 3,100.
