GURUGRAM- Sources reported that over 160 passengers experienced a close call when an Air India Express (IX) flight from Sharjah (SHJ) to Surat collided with a parked truck after landing at Surat International Airport (STV). The incident occurred around 11:15 pm on Wednesday, March 13.
It was revealed that the 180-seat Air India Express 737 performed a routine airport landing. After landing, the flight was en route to the Bay area when it crashed with a parked truck beside the runway, confirmed by the officials.

While the passengers remained unharmed, the incident damaged the plane’s wing.
Airport authorities have compiled and submitted an incident report to the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The aircraft involved has been grounded temporarily, with flight operations set to resume pending an investigation by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
The ongoing construction activities for a parallel taxi track utilizing trucks for material transportation. The recent mishap is believed to have occurred when a truck was left unattended on the runway.
Notably, a similar incident on February 28 resulted in disruptions to flight operations due to a plane becoming stuck on the runway.
Construction of the parallel taxi track has been underway for approximately five years, with a segment completed towards Vesu.
However, permission for its utilization at the airport has yet to be granted by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. Despite a notice issued in May 2021 urging the construction company to expedite the work, the project remains incomplete.
