AZAMGARH- During his visit to Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday, PM Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 15 airport projects, including 12 new terminal buildings.
PM Modi remarked, “Azamgarh’s star is shining today. There was a time when an event was held in Delhi, and people from other states used to attend it. Today, the event is being organized in Azamgarh, and people from different parts of the country are attending it.”
PM Modi Inaugurates 15 Airport Projects
The prime minister unveiled airport projects nationwide, amounting to over ₹9,800 crore (1.18 Billion USD).
Emphasizing the need to view these developmental projects beyond electoral perspectives, Modi stated, “Don’t see these developmental projects from electoral spectacles,” and added that he is swiftly advancing development to transform India into a developed nation by 2047.
Which airport projects were launched by PM Modi today?
Inaugurated new terminal buildings at the following airports:
- Pune Airport
- Kolhapur Airport
- Gwalior Airport
- Jabalpur Airport
- Delhi Airport
- Lucknow Airport
- Aligarh Airport
- Azamgarh Airport
- Chitrakoot Airport
- Moradabad Airport
- Shravasti Airport
- Adampur Airport
Additionally, the foundation stone was laid for new terminal buildings at:
- Kadapa Airport
- Hubballi Airport
- Belagavi Airport
The 12 recently inaugurated terminals will jointly accommodate 620 lakh passengers annually. Upon completion of the three additional terminals, the overall passenger capacity will rise to 95 lakh per year, as stated by the government.
These terminals are equipped with modern passenger facilities and incorporate sustainable elements such as insulated roofing systems, energy-efficient canopies, and LED lighting. According to the official statement, the designs are influenced by local heritage, mirroring the culture and history of the state and city.
Mega Airports Opening Soon
In the coming future, it is expected that two significant projects, namely Noida Airport and Navi Mumbai Airport, will be prepared for public use by the conclusion of 2024. The total investment in these 16 airports surpasses Rs. 12,000 crores.
Notably, among the inaugurated projects, Gwalior holds distinction as it is set to house one of Madhya Pradesh’s most extensive terminals.
Further, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Aviation Minister Scindia will attend in Gwalior, where an investment of approximately Rs. 500 crores has been directed towards the airport.
