This summer, Portland is set for a record schedule, featuring more than 20 daily departures, including recently disclosed flights to Nashville and Miami.
Alaska Airlines Portland Flights
Kirsten Amrine, Vice President of Revenue Management and Network Planning for Alaska Airlines, emphasized, “We’ve been the largest carrier in Portland for more than 20 years. We don’t take that for granted. It’s important for us to provide our guests with a variety of convenient flight options at PDX, along with the addition of new routes. We know travelers have a choice, and we want them to fly with us.”
Accompanying the announcement, Alaska Airlines will enhance frequencies on various popular routes along the West Coast and beyond:
- Las Vegas: 5x daily
- Phoenix: 4x daily
- Sacramento: 4x daily
- Ontario, Calif.: 3x daily
- Reno: 3x daily
- Bend, Ore.: 2x daily
- Dallas-Fort Worth: 2x daily
- Denver: 2x daily
- Fresno, Calif.: 2x daily
- Medford, Ore.: 2x daily
This expansion is not the extent of Alaska’s growth plans from its Portland hub. In response to heightened demand, several seasonal routes from Portland to Billings, Mont., Kansas City, and Minneapolis will be extended through the end of 2024.
In total, Alaska aims to offer nonstop service to 53 destinations from this Pacific Northwestern airport. Additionally, the airline has disclosed plans for a new 10,000-square-foot airport lounge at Portland International Airport, slated to open by 2026, to complement the substantial capacity growth.
Offer for Loyal Customers
The announcement follows Alaska’s recent reintroduction of the Boeing 737 MAX-9 into service after a mid-air blowout incident.
In late January, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) sanctioned the inspection and maintenance procedures for the 65 MAX-9 aircraft in Alaska’s fleet.
As a gesture of appreciation to loyal travelers who endured the service disruption, Alaska is presently running a promotion that provides double elite-qualifying miles (EQMs) for flights taken until the end of the month.
