NEW YORK- In a joint announcement, American Express and Delta Air Lines (DL) unveiled upgraded Delta SkyMiles ® American Express Cards with a focus on enhancing the travel experience and providing ongoing value to both consumers and business owners.
Tailored to cater to everyone from occasional travelers to the most frequent Delta flyers, these cards introduce new reward categories, benefits, and features spanning everyday spending, restaurant dining, rideshares, rental cars, flights, and vacation accommodations. Additionally, the enhanced Companion Certificates and innovative methods for earning Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs) further contribute to the overall appeal of these cards.

Discover More Destinations with Enhanced Companion Certificate*:
The certificate, now applicable for First Class (for Reserve/Reserve Business), Delta Comfort+® or Main Cabin round-trip flights to Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico, the Caribbean, or Central America, in addition to the continental U.S., is a yearly benefit after Card renewal.
Enhanced Everyday & Travel Value:
Card Members have the opportunity to earn annual statement credits up to $560 for Reserve, up to $610 for Reserve Business, up to $390 for Platinum, up to $410 for Platinum Business, up to $300 for Gold, and up to $350 for Gold Business.
These credits can be earned after using an enrolled Card for eligible purchases at U.S. Resy restaurants, U.S. rideshare purchases with select providers, and prepaid Delta Stays hotel and vacation rental bookings on delta.com (refer to the graphic for details).
Additionally, TakeOff 15 offers a 15 percent discount on Award Travel booked with miles for these Card Members (excluding partner-operated flights or taxes and fees).
Progress Toward Status:
A new annual MQD Headstart of $2500 MQDs assists Delta SkyMiles American Express Platinum, Platinum Business, Reserve, and Reserve Business Card Members in reaching halfway to Silver Medallion status at the beginning of each qualifying year.
The MQD Boost further aids them in achieving status by earning $1 MQD for every $10 in eligible purchases (Reserve and Reserve Business Card Members) or $1 MQD for every $20 in eligible purchases (Delta Platinum and Platinum Business Card Members).
Expanded Reward Categories and Business Spending Power:
Platinum Business and Reserve Business Card Members can accrue more miles in additional everyday business spending categories.
With Expanded Buying Power**, Card Members enjoy the flexibility to spend beyond their credit limit, and this amount adjusts based on Card usage, payment history, credit record, financial resources known to the issuer, and other relevant factors.
It’s important to note that the spending capacity with Expanded Buying Power is not unlimited.

These latest enhancements complement the existing benefits enjoyed by card members, which vary depending on the card type.
These existing benefits include features like TakeOff 15, Main Cabin 1 Priority Boarding, the first checked bag free, lounge access, increased miles earned in key spending categories such as restaurants and U.S. supermarkets, and a Fee Credit for TSA Precheck or Global Entry.
New Annual Fees
The enhanced benefits are currently accessible to Card Members. For those Card Members who initiated accounts prior to today, the revised annual fees will become effective during their subsequent renewal dates on or after May 1, 2024.
The updated annual fees for each Card are as follows:
- Delta SkyMiles® American Express Reserve and Reserve Business: $650 annually (increased from $550). Refer to Reserve Rates & Fees and Reserve Business Rates & Fees for details.
- Delta SkyMiles® American Express Platinum and Platinum Business: $350 annually (increased from $250). Refer to Platinum Rates & Fees and Platinum Business Rates & Fees for details.
