LONDON- British Airways (BA) has revealed plans to introduce several long-haul and short-haul routes departing from London Heathrow, London Gatwick, and Edinburgh in 2024.
Notably, the national flag carrier is set to resume operations at London Stansted, marking its return to the airport for the first time since the onset of the pandemic. This move is part of British Airways’ ongoing efforts to expand its global offerings and enhance travel options for customers.

London Heathrow:
Abu Dhabi, UAE: April 20, 2024
Renowned for its impressive skyline, vibrant culture, desert vistas, pristine beaches, and top-notch attractions, Abu Dhabi offers a diverse blend of culture, leisure, and adventure. British Airways is set to reintroduce daily flights to Abu Dhabi after a four-year break.
Commencing on April 20, 2024, the route will provide year-round connectivity between London Heathrow and the capital of the UAE.
Izmir, Turkey: May 18, 2024
Situated on Turkey’s Aegean coast, Izmir is recognized for its sandy beaches and boasts a profound archaeological and historical legacy. Becoming the fifth Turkish destination on the British Airways network, Izmir joins Istanbul, Antalya, Bodrum, and Dalaman.
Scheduled to commence on May 18, 2024, the route will offer weekly flights departing from London Heathrow’s Terminal 5 every Saturday.
London Gatwick:
Agadir, Morocco: March 31, 2024
Agadir, the second Moroccan destination on British Airways’ route map, joins Marrakech, marking the first availability of Agadir to British Airways customers in over a decade. Boasting 300 days of sunshine annually, Agadir offers beaches, golf courses, water sports, and cultural landmarks such as Agadir Kasbah.
The four-times weekly flight, effective from March 31, 2024, will be operated by British Airways’ Gatwick short-haul subsidiary, BA Euroflyer.
Return to Stansted
For travelers opting to depart from London Stansted next summer, a new premium airline choice awaits as British Airways makes its return to the north-east London airport. Operated by British Airways’ subsidiary BA Cityflyer, weekend flights will be offered to Florence, Ibiza, and Nice using its Embraer 190 aircraft.
This marks the first scheduled flight by British Airways from Stansted since before the global pandemic, making it the fourth London airport served by the flag carrier.
Florence, Italy: May 18, 2024
Situated in the heart of Tuscany, Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance, boasts iconic attractions like the Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral, creating an artistic and cultural ambiance in the city.
British Airways will operate flights to Florence on weekends, departing on Sundays, in addition to regular flights from London Heathrow and London City Airport.
Flights will be available starting from £82 return.
Ibiza, Spain: May 18, 2024
Whether indulging in vibrant nightlife in the island’s town center or enjoying a peaceful family holiday on the northern coast, Ibiza offers a blend of excitement and relaxation.
British Airways will offer weekend flights to Ibiza, departing on Sundays, in addition to regular flights from London Heathrow, London City, and London Gatwick.
Flights will be available starting from £72 return.
Nice, France: May 18, 2024
With its splendid architecture, beaches, and panoramic views, Nice is an ideal destination for a weekend getaway or a summer vacation. London Stansted will operate weekend flights to Nice, departing on Sundays, complementing regular flights from London Heathrow, London City, and London Gatwick.
Flights will be available starting from £86 return.
Edinburg Flights
British Airways has recently unveiled two new routes from Edinburgh Airport set to operate in Summer 2024. For the first time, the flag carrier will provide twice-weekly flights from Edinburgh to San Sebastian in Spain’s Basque Country and weekly flights to Olbia in northeast Sardinia, Italy.
Flights for the summer season will be operated by BA Cityflyer using its Embraer 190 aircraft.
San Sebastian, Spain: May 25, 2024
Renowned for its picturesque beaches, charming old town, and world-class cuisine, San Sebastian appeals to those seeking excellent food, cultural exploration, and coastal living. The city is particularly famous for its Michelin-starred restaurants and lively pintxos bars, offering a diverse range of Basque dishes.
The flights are scheduled to commence on May 25, 2024, and will operate twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
