HYDERABAD- In a reaffirmation of its dedication to India and an effort to expand its footprint on the subcontinent, Lufthansa Airlines (LH) is delighted to announce the commencement of direct flights between Hyderabad (HYD), the capital of the Indian state of Telangana, and Frankfurt (FRA), Germany.
Once renowned as the “City of Pearls” due to its historical significance in the pearl and diamond trade, Hyderabad has served as a pivotal hub for merchants and traders from across the globe. Presently, it stands as India’s fourth-largest city, evolving into a burgeoning center for technology, aerospace, and the pharmaceutical industry.
Lufthansa Frankfurt to Hyderabad Flights
Hyderabad boasts a substantial presence of major multinational corporations, including Google, Microsoft, Boeing, and Airbus. As a thriving capital in a prosperous state, both Hyderabad and the State of Telangana have significantly contributed to India’s economic success.
Functioning as an investment hub and a hotbed of innovation, Hyderabad seamlessly combines the timeless allure of its rich history with the vibrancy of 21st-century India.
As the preeminent European carrier in India, Lufthansa now offers direct connections from Germany to five destinations in the country, with the Hyderabad-Frankfurt route being the latest addition to its global network.
Notably, India stands out as the fastest-growing major market for Lufthansa globally, with capacity growth surpassing pre-pandemic levels.
Executive Remarks
According to Mr. George Ettiyil, Senior Director – South Asia, Lufthansa Group:
“With the introduction of our new Hyderabad-Frankfurt service, we are now providing Indian travelers with 64 weekly flights to our European hubs, ensuring seamless onward connections to the extensive network across the continent. The inauguration of the Hyderabad route marks a 14% increase in our capacity to India compared to 2019, solidifying its position as the fastest-growing major market for Lufthansa. Over the past three months, we have successfully launched two new routes, namely Bangalore-Munich and Hyderabad-Frankfurt, underscoring the growing significance of South India and reaffirming India’s overall importance to the Lufthansa Group.”

The launch of this new service came ahead of Wings India 2024, which will be hosted in Hyderabad from 18th Jan to 21st Jan 2024.
