DELHI- Tata-owned Air India (AI) passenger Shreyti Garg shared her disappointing experience during a flight from Delhi (DEL) to Toronto (YYZ) in a recent Instagram post.
In a video, the content creator depicted a concerning situation where the in-flight entertainment and lights for three seats were non-functional, leaving Garg and her family in the dark, both literally and figuratively.
Woman Slams Air India
Garg, who was accompanied by her two young children (2.5 years and 7 months), expressed her dissatisfaction with the subpar conditions despite paying a hefty sum of Rs 4.5 lakh.
Her Instagram post highlighted various issues, including broken seats and a complete malfunction of the entertainment system. Garg also detailed a safety concern regarding a broken seat handle with protruding wires, posing a potential threat to her toddler. However, she did not have a photo or footage of the specific issue.
“Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of the broken seat handle and literally had to protect my toddler from getting hurt as all the wires were coming out of the system,” she wrote.
In the video, she demonstrated how she had to use her phone’s torchlight for minor tasks as the overhead lights were not functioning. She expressed her concerns about the conditions on a 15-hour flight.
Despite lodging multiple complaints with the airline’s crew and staff, Garg claimed that no action was taken to address the issues. The crew allegedly attempted to reboot the system, but the problems persisted.
She concluded her post by addressing the airline: “Firstly, the pricing of tickets is already too high, and on top of it, instead of making the journey smooth for the passengers, you made it inconvenient for the parents traveling with kids, especially.”
Grievances against the Airline
While many people supported her in the comments, there was dissent too.
“Instead of paying Manish Malhotra for new uniforms, they should work on the service,” one user wrote.
“Experienced the same on a flight from Dubai business class. Middle Eastern Airlines or Singapore Airlines are better any day for international travel. Air India should only be used for domestic,” wrote another.
A critic had a different opinion. “It’s your fault too. You guys look for cheaper options, and then you cry you won’t get this,” they wrote.
