LUXEMBOURG- On Thursday evening (Dec 21, 2023), a China Southern Airlines (CZ) Airbus A350 carrying 146 passengers touched down at Luxembourg Airport (LUX), inaugurating the first direct air route for passengers between China and Luxembourg.
Upon exiting the aircraft, the primarily Chinese passengers received a warm welcome from Alexander Flassak, the Chief Executive Officer of Luxembourg Airport, and Hua Ning, the Chinese Ambassador to Luxembourg.

Expressing pride and joy, Flassak remarked, “We are proud and happy to have this passenger flight directly connecting to China. We have worked for it for several years.”
Highlighting the existing cargo flights between the two nations as a “strong link to China,” he expressed anticipation for additional direct passenger flights between Luxembourg and China in the future.
Upon disembarking from the plane that originated in the city of Zhengzhou, located in central China’s Henan Province, a passenger identified only by the surname Zhang expressed her joy.
She shared with Xinhua, “We’ve been waiting for this long, and now we can finally fly directly from Zhengzhou to Luxembourg without a layover! We are particularly happy.”
In the initial stage, the air route will run one round-trip weekly. Outbound flights are scheduled to depart from Zhengzhou at 2:50 p.m. (0650 GMT) on Thursdays, reaching Luxembourg at 7 p.m. (1600 GMT) on the same day.
Return flights will depart from Luxembourg on Fridays at 3 p.m. (1400 GMT) and arrive in Zhengzhou at 8:10 a.m. (0010 GMT) on Saturdays.
Compared to the previous indirect flights, the new air route offers passengers a considerable reduction in travel time, saving them several hours.
