NEW DELHI- IndiGo (6E) is poised to be the inaugural airline operating at the upcoming Noida International Airport (NIA), slated for operational commencement by the close of the next year.
An MoU was formalized on Friday to facilitate the joint endeavour of enhancing air connectivity within Uttar Pradesh and extending it beyond. NIA is actively engaged in discussions with several other domestic and international airlines, indicating a broader spectrum of operations in the future.

IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers expressed enthusiasm, stating, ‘We are delighted to announce our Memorandum of Understanding with Noida International Airport, marking us as the inaugural carrier at the upcoming airport.
Our operations at NIA will seamlessly connect the people of Uttar Pradesh to our extensive network. Anticipating the airport’s inauguration in 2024, we will continue collaborating with NIA management to explore innovative approaches, delivering an affordable, punctual, and stress-free travel experience across the 6E network
Noida International Airport’s Initial Phase to Commence by Late 2024: Features One Runway and Terminal, Capable of Handling 1.2 Crore Passengers Annually. Upon Completion of the Fourth Phase, Capacity Will Expand to Accommodate 7 Crore Passengers Per Year.
Noida Project Overview
- The Noida International Airport (NIA) is being developed in four phases and is set to become the largest airport in India upon completion.
- Once fully developed, which is estimated to be in the mid-2040s, the airport will cover an area of approximately 5,000 hectares, featuring multiple runways, two terminal buildings, and an annual passenger capacity of 1.2 crores.
- The airport will also include facilities for cargo services and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services.
- It will serve as the third airport for commercial operations in the national capital region, alongside Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) and Ghaziabad’s Hindon Air Base.
