MUMBAI- Tata-owned Indian carrier, Air India (AI) introduces its second daily flight between Mangaluru and Mumbai on June 10 has significantly improved flight connectivity between the two coastal cities.
This development closely follows the IndiGo (6E) addition of a third daily flight on the Mumbai-Mangaluru sector on May 22.
As a result, the combined efforts of the two airlines now offer a total of five daily flights on this highly frequented route. In 2022, the Mumbai-Mangaluru route emerged as the busiest, serving a staggering 4.9 lakh passengers for arrivals and departures.
Air India Mumbai to Mangaluru Flights
The Air India flight with the number 1679 departs from Mumbai at 12.40 pm and arrived at Mangaluru at 2.10 pm. On the return journey, the AI1680 flight departs Mangaluru at 2.50 pm, reaching Mumbai at 4.35 pm.
During the inaugural flight, 182 passengers arrived on AI 1679, while 167 passengers departed for Mumbai on AI 1680. Another Air India flight, AI 679, takes off from Mumbai at 5.45 am and arrives in Mangaluru at 7.20 am. Following that, Flight AI 680 leaves Mangaluru at 7.55 am and arrives in Mumbai at 9.35 am.
Air India actively operates a fleet comprising Airbus and Boeing aircraft, catering to a wide network of 102 domestic and international destinations. The airline establishes its hub at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi, while also maintaining multiple focus cities throughout India.
With an impressive market share of 18.6%, Air India proudly holds the title of the largest international carrier originating from India. Across five continents, Air India extends its reach to over 60 international destinations, providing global connectivity to passengers.
Mangaluru Increasing Traffic
Mangaluru International Airport witnesses a total of 38 daily air traffic movements (ATMs). While the combined number of domestic and international passengers stands at approximately 5000.
Sources at Mangaluru International Airport have revealed that IndiGo has indicated its intention to continue operating its third daily flight to Mumbai until the conclusion of the current summer airline schedule on October 28.
Initially planned to run until June 15, the low-cost carrier has extended the duration of this additional daily flight until July 31. Further allowing passengers to book tickets during this period.
