Adani Group has asked the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to shorten the time frame for partial shutting of operations at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at Ahmedabad for the first major maintenance work to be undertaken after the group took over the airport.

It has sought approval from the aviation regulator to adjust the closure dates from the current November 2021 to May 2022 to January-May 2022, in view of an expected revival in tourist traffic during this year’s festive season.

“The runway maintenance and closure were initially proposed from 10 November 2021 to 31 May 2022, however, owing to the onset of the festive season and feedback from the industry fraternity, we are evaluating the condition and reducing the closure period to get the airport ready for travelers,” Adani Group said in a statement on Thursday.
