Fancy flying almost 8,000 kilometers in an Airbus A321? SATA Azores Airlines has done just that, breaking its own record for the longest flight in terms of distance with an A321LR .
The flight, operated by the aircraft registered CS-TSI, took off from Oakland, California (OAK) and landed at Lajes Airport (TER), Terceira Island in the Azores on September 8, 2021.
At 7,874 kilometers non-stop, the flight exceeds the previous record of approximately 7,600 kilometers.
However, it was not as long in terms of time as the other record flight, which Azores Airlines flew in January 2021, using the same aircraft. That flight, from Lisbon (LIS), Portugal to Bogota (BOG), Colombia took 9 hours and 49 minutes.
The latest record-breaking flight in the aircraft, named Inspire, took off at 2040 UTC and landed at 0600 UTC, Azores Airlines said, making it 9 hours 20 minutes in duration.
