A trainee air hostess was allegedly drugged and raped by a 22-year-old youth she met through Instagram, a popular social media platform. The accused, who is an engineering student, even filmed the heinous crime and later used the video clip to sexually assault the survivor several times.
Following a police complaint by the woman, the accused, identified as Ajit Trivedi, was nabbed from his house in Ahmedabad’s Vejalpur.
The complainant claimed that in April this year, Trivedi called her to his house, where he gave her a sedative-laced cold drink.
“She said that she fell unconscious after consuming the beverage and the accused raped her. She also alleged that he shot the entire act on his cellphone which he later used to rape her often,” a report published by The Times of India quoted a police officer as saying.
In another incident, a 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her friend’s 21-year-old brother within the limits of the Jagdishpur police station in Amethi district of Uttar Pradesh.
The incident took place when the 17-year-old girl had gone to the fields for relieving herself on August 21. The accused, identified as Sunil, abducted her with the help of his sister, who was the teenager’s friend.
Following this, Sunil applied vermilion on the teenager’s forehead and then raped her. The girl, after returning home, narrated her ordeal to her family members, following which the police were informed and the accused was arrested.
