A pilot walked away without serious injuries from the mangled wreck of his helicoper after crash landing on a mountain in Snowdonia.His private helicopter had suffered mechanical failure near Llanfachreth, Dolgellau.
He was able to put the helicopter down after finding a flat area near the summit of Rhobell Fawr, a former volcano rising to 2,408ft.

South Snowdonia Search & Rescue Team (SRT) was called out to help after being alerted to the crash.Team members were joined by HM Coastguard’s Bristows Rescue helicopter 936.
The crash happened on Saturday, August 25, but South Snowdonia SRT only recently revealed details.
Pictures of the pilot’s downed helicopter were shared on Facebook, prompting many to marvel at his miraculous escape.
One person said: “Bl**dy hell…that pilot is so lucky.”

Another observed: “As they say, any landing that you can walk away from is a good landing.“Glad to hear no serious injuries.”
South Snowdonia SRT was involved in another dramatic operation at a Gwynedd beauty spot two days previously.
