AAI, the Airport Authority of India team selects the site for Puri international airport.
A technical team of Six Members of the Airport Authority of India (AAI) on Thursday finally approved the 1,500 acre land. The site has been proposed for the international airport to be made.

It has been identified by the district administration at Girala village on the outskirts of Puri town.
Letter to the Prime Minister
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik penned a letter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 1. In the letter had sought the establishment of an international airport.

The Aiport is expected to be named after Lord Jagannath, at Puri.
The Airports Authority of India team survey
A three-member team of the Airport Authority of India (AAI) began its survey to identify and approve the place. The one which has been proposed for the international airport in the pilgrim town.
The team, is on a two-day visit to the pilgrim town. They have visited all the four sites of Girala and Sipasarubali on the town’s western side. Not leaving the Samagara and Baliguali on the eastern end as well.

The Sub-Collector Bhabataran Sahu along with his other revenue staff accompanied the team.
- Collector Samarth Verma said that the survey team has approved the land at Girala.
- So, they will further hold talks with the government regarding the same on Friday.
