Covid crisis in India: IndiGo announces initiatives to support its employees.
Airline IndiGo is an Indian low-cost airline headquartered in Gurugram, Haryana, India. It is the largest airline in India by passengers carried and fleet size. It has a 59.24% domestic market share as of August 2020.
Setting up Covid-care centers
No-frills carrier IndiGo on Thursday said it is setting up a 13-bedded dedicated COVID care center. It’ll be in collaboration with Columbia Asia Hospital in Gurugram.
- It’s been prepared for those coronavirus-positive employees and may need access to an oxygen bed with medical facilities.
The facility, which is part of incredible measures being taken by IndiGo Airlines. The initiative is to support its employees and their families amid the pandemic. And, this can be used both by the employees and their immediate family members, the company said.

The airline has already commenced vaccination drives across 40 stations in its network. And, also at its support center at Gurugram. Additionally, there are drives planned also for some additional stations later this month.
But this is dependent on vaccine supplies. And, how quickly these will be made available by the government and private hospitals, it said.

Central Task Force
Pat week, the airline said, it has set up a central task force. It is further supported by a regional task force network. And, this force helps to establish, monitor, and review response strategies. And, also create programs to help its people.
Besides, IndiGo has also partnered with hotels for quarantine facilities, which is aimed to provide a safe and hygienic environment. For all and any of the employees who are COVID positive with mild symptoms or are asymptomatic. Not only positive but also for ones who are staying away from their hometown. Indigo has also established a Plasma Donor Bank initiative last week. Along with assistance and help from employees who have recovered from COVID-19 in the past three months. Also, adding some 110 employees who have come forward (so far) to volunteer for donating plasma.
The Wellness corner
And budget carrier, IndiGo has come up with ”The Wellness Corner” mobile application and a 24X7 helpline for doctor consultation. Also, this is in partnership with Truworth Health Technologies, as part of these initiatives, said an official.
